Lampung Governor Rahmat Mirzani Djausal encouraged the establishment of People’s Schools (SR) in Lampung Province, in order to break the chain of poverty, and also as a real form of his support for national priority policies and programs in the field of education.
This was conveyed by the Head of the Lampung Province Social Service, Drs. Aswarodi M.Si, when met after reviewing the location of the planned construction of the People’s School (SR), in Kota Baru, South Lampung, Monday, April 21, 2025.
“The Governor is fighting for People’s Schools to be established in the City and District in Lampung Province, and is appealing to the city and district governments to propose that each can have a People’s School (SR),” said the Head of the Office.
Lampung Social Affairs Head Aswarodi explained that the People’s School (SR) is intended for the poor based on the National Integrated Socio-Economic Data (DTSEN). The target students are poor decile 1, which includes data on extremely poor residents with incomes below Rp400 thousand.
“Parents may be poor, but children must not be poor, so public schools are Mr. Prabowo’s strategy, and the Lampung Provincial Government has shown a real commitment in supporting President Prabowo Subianto’s program through the plan to build Public Schools in Lampung Province,” added Aswarodi.
He also said that for the construction of the People’s School (SR) on the Lampung Provincial Government land, the plan is to build it in Kota Baru, South Lampung, and Selusuban, Central Lampung.
The Lampung Provincial Government several days ago proposed to the Ministry of Social Affairs, regarding the planned location for the establishment of the People’s School, and today the central government through the PUPR Ministry conducted a survey, in one of the intended locations, namely South Lampung New City, accompanied by related agencies from the Lampung provincial government, including the PU Service, Social Service, BPKAD, Perkim Ciptaru Service, Education Service, Bapedda, and the Legal Bureau.
The entire budget for implementing development, including facilities and infrastructure, as well as teaching staff, all comes from the center.
The People’s School in Lampung plans to accept 300 students from elementary, middle, and high school levels. The concept is a boarding school model, so that it not only provides academic learning activities, but also care, training, and skills guidance.
Students at the People’s School are required to live in the dormitory, which has been prepared.
“So the requirements to become a student at the People’s School (SR) are, namely, poor residents based on DTSEN) decile 1, residence or address according to the location where the SR was established, or according to zoning, except for those on Lampung Provincial Government land, parents must agree for their children to live in a dormitory. All needs are borne by the central government. The capital is only a healthy body,” concluded the head of the office.
